HOUSEHOLD USES FOR MUSTARD

Mustard.. How many of us just love that good ole yellow stuff. I love mustard on almost anything, even mixing some in my bowl of pinto beans. Nothing is better that a fried bologna sandwich with mustard on the bread and crushed ruffle or plain potato chips on the sandwich and some sliced hot banana peppers. But there are some more uses for it.  Here is a list of uses for that yellow bottle of mustard.

Mix some mustard with 1 teaspoon salt, some lemon juice, honey and 1/2 hot water. Stir good and then let is sit for 10 minutes and stir again. Gargle it for a sore throat. It is a nature sore throat reliever. It will help for 2 days with a sore throat.

How many times do we buy something in a bottle and would like to reuse the bottle but can't on account of the smell left behind. Put some mustard in the bottle with some hot water. Shake the bottle good and then rinse the mustard out. The smell should be gone.

Need a good foot wash for tired feet. Mix two spoonfuls of mustard in some hot water and stir good and bathe your feet in it for 15 minutes.

Some of the older people used to use mustard on burns. It will take away the pain. I know I use meat tenderizer on wasp stings and it takes away the pain, just wet the sting and put some tenderizer on it,so mustard will do the same thing. Just rub some on the sting and it should take away the pain from wasps.

Some say it will take away leg cramps by mixing some with some water and taking a shot glass full.

"COFFEEMATE BOTTLE REUSE"

Do you just throw your coffeemate bottles in the trash when you are finished with them. Wash them out good and dry them and then reuse them for different things. Did you know that under the coffemate peeling they are clear. These bottles can be used for storing your rice, dried beans, garden seeds, snacks etc. in them.
They have a pouring spout to use also on them. You can take and freeze lemonaide or drinks with not fizz in them and then take them out and use for to keep things cold at  a picnic or going on a trip. If doing this I would slip them down in a ziplock bag in case the lid may become open so you will not have a mess on hand. Then when they unthaw you can drink the lemonaide or punch.
You can make up some simple syrup for your tea and keep it stored in them. You can even store sugar in them and it will pour out good as long as they have been cleaned good and then dryed. So check these out and use them. You can even store washers or nuts or screws in them.

CLEANING A SHOWER HEAD

If you are like me and always forgetting to clean the shower head then here is a quick tip to clean it. Take it off and get a ziplock bag and pour 1/2 cup warm white vinegar in it and put the shower head down in it making sure the holes are down in the vinegar. Let set for 1 hour. Rinse and then put back on. May need to take a brush and scrub it before putting back on. May also need some of the white plastic tape to make sure it don't leak.

CLEANING OUT THAT VACUUM CLEANER

Do you have a vacuum that just is not picking up good. Maybe it is time for a good brush cleanout. Make sure the vacuum is not pluged in. Don't be like me I forgot to unplug mine and about got my hand caught trying to pull all that hair out of it. No, we do not have no dog's in our home but just human hair and you would really be surprised at how much hair gets wound around a vac. brush. I just learned that a seam ripper is better than trying to use scissors to get all this junk out. If you have a up-right one, mine gets cloged up at the plastic neck. I take a wire hanger and bend it, the part where it hangs and make a hook and use this to get down in there and get stuff out of it. Just make sure you don't punch a hole in the plastic hose. If you have a vac. and the long hose is stuck tight I take a 1/2 inch pvc pipe and put a drill bit on the end of it and stick it down in my vac. That is where the good ole gray tape comes in handy. I tape the drill bit on real tight. You just take and twist the pipe around and it will catch some of the stuff on the bit and then you can pull it out. You can just use the 1/2 inch pvc pipe to reach all the way to the other end of it without the drill bit. Would not wont anyone to have a bit come off in the vac. and not be able to get it out.  I keep a pvc piece handy to use for this all the time. Nothing makes me more upset than to have a stopped up vac.

HOW TO DRIVE A NAIL AND NOT HIT YOUR FINGER

If you are like me and always have bigger fingers than the nail when trying to hang a picture. Take a comb and put the nail in the teeth of it. They have different size teeth so match up with the nail which everone that will hold the nail. Then you don't have to worry about hitting your finger when trying to drive it. Good for using when putting those small nails in the hanger for a picture or mirror or even on a wall.

HOW TO HANG A GROUP OF SMALL PICTURES

Do you have a group of small pictures you would like to hang but hat to make so many holes in the walls trying to get them hung right and spaced out right.
Take and measure the wall where you want to hang them, the with and length.
Then take some wax paper and tape it together to make the wall size you want to use.
Put the pictues on the wax paper ever how close together or far apart.
Work with them until you get them right.
Flip the pictures over so that the hangers are faceing up. Now take another piece of wax paper and put over the pictues the size of the bottom one. Put a dot with a marker where the picture hangers are.
Take the wax paper and put a piece of scotch tape on each side of it. Hang this on the wall after you have got it straight.
Make sure the tape will not damage the wall. Take a nail or screw where the dots are drive it into the wall. Take down the wax paper and then hang up the pictures. They should be the way you want them to look.

DISH TOWEL HOLDERS

Are you like me, always having to find your dish towel. I have a hook for mine to hang them up by but it always slides off the hook. It is too big to hang over the hook. A simple fix is buy a piece of elastic and just sew a loop on them in the back  corner. Then hang it on the hook. That way, they are not always lying about the kitchen and will not drop off on the floor. You could also you a piece of flat string or rope or even a small piece of material sewed like a button loop.
I put mine from one corner edge to the other and it makes it big enough to hang thru the hook. Can just sew them on with a needle and thread if you don't have a sewing machine. Some companies are now making a loop on the back of them to hang them up by.

GOOD USE FOR A CHOP STICK

If you are cooking something in a kettle and do not want it to boil over. Take a chopstick and lay on the back side of the kettle and then put the lid down on it. Make sure it does not fall in the kettle. This lets the lid stay on and lets the steam out the back and it will not boil over. I do this when I am cooking pinto beans or green beans.

MOUTHWASH AND DRYER SHEETS

My son was telling me how you can use small containers of mouthwash sitting around on your picnic tables outside to keep the flys and bugs away. He also said that dryer sheets will also work for this. I am sure going to try this. Good for homecomings.

SHOWER CAPS

When you visit a hotel or motel don't throw away the shower caps they give you. Bring them home and use them to cover different size bowls that you keep your lefovers in in the ref. also good to use when on a picnic to keep the bugs out of the food. I buy packs of them for this at the dollar store and keep on hand. Good to use to take to homecomings.

CHALK BOARD ERASER

When it is raining and you can't get all the fog off your inside car window buy a chalkboard eraser and keep in the car. It will not leave streaks on your window like trying to rub it with a cloth or paper towel or napkin does.

COTTON BALL TIP

When you break something and see fine pieces of glass laying there take a wet cotton ball and it will pick up the fine stuff.
